Celebrating the quirky diversity of independent businesses in Cardiff
A new initiative has been launched to encourage people in Cardiff to shop locally, buying only properly sourced products from independent stores in the city.
Inspired by the Welsh Food Box company, who deliver to doorsteps around Wales and concentrate their “search for quality on small local producers and growers that have the highest production standards and ethical farming practices”, the idea was picked up by @TweetCardiff, who have taken the idea off the ground.
A flyer and poster campaign is expected over the next couple of weeks before the week begins in earnest from March 25 to April 1.
In the wake of the horse meat scandal, and as high street stores come under even greater pressure this year, a concerted effort such as this could well be the catalyst for something bigger.
If anything, it would give our local suppliers the little boost they need.
